Storming Prompt: January 2018

This picture was too cool to pass up. We've entered a new year so I thought using the prompt of an uncharted territory might prove interesting.

By the way, I don't know what my readers usually do with these posts but you might be interested in subscribing to the comments on these posts even if you don't submit an entry yourself. Not every prompt has entries but should there be an entry you'd be able to read other thoughts on the matter. Anyway, that was a whole lot of babble...moving on!

Rules
1. YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A WRITER TO PARTICIPATE!
2. View/Read/Listen to the prompt with a mind primed to explore the possibilities!
3. You don't have to answer all of the questions I pose. They are there merely to aid your mind in taking imaginative flight.
4. Share what ideas you gained in the comments. This could include a bit of dialogue, a general scene sketch, a plot problem, character names, and place, or even the 'history' of a prompt. (But, if the idea you create happens to be so great, you might want to save it for a future date!)
5. Read and perhaps add to the other replies and answers submitted. (Recommended not required)

It's a new frontier, why are you here? What's causing that light?

Yours truly,
Cordy

Storming Prompt: December 2017

Merry Christmas, friends!
Because I want you to be spending your time elsewhere at this merry time of year, I wanted to make this prompt simple for you all. With my cause in mind, just give me a thought bubble quote for one or both of these people. A simple caption or two will do.

Have fun!

Merry Christmas!!

Storming Prompt: November 2017

Sorry, I left you hanging in October. I've had a lot to try and work through and while I'm not really back into the swing of things, my brain wouldn't rest until I'd given you this small project. As I have NaNoWriMo in mind, I didn't want to make this prompt very hard so I'm trying something new with this month's entry.

I hope this isn't too hard. I was going for something that was appropriate for the season. Good luck with your entries!

Yours truly,
Cordy

Storming Prompt: September 2017

I am so excited by this picture today. Scenery excites me. I could stay in one place captivated by a view for eternity if I had to. This view is one of those sights that I wouldn't be able to resist. I'm going to forgo the long list of "rules" this month as they are a big block before you reach the best part. Therefore, what are you going to submit this month?

Where is this place? Who is the girl? What is her goal? her fancies? Where are her companions? What would you do in such a place?

Yours truly,
Cordy

P.S. My entry is going to be left with a raw edge. It will be nothing spectacular but if you can't think of an entry of your own, maybe you can think of something to add to mine. I like the idea of these story games but this is only a suggestion, not a requirement for this month. Do enjoy yourselves!

Storming Prompt: August 2017

Late again! Rats! Oh well. :)
I've made a little something different this time. I've seen some of these on Pinterest and they're always fun. At least, in my opinion, they are. I'm not sure I have the same talent as those who created the ones on Pinterest...but I thought I'd give it a go anyway. Therefore:

Rules

What can you do with...

No added questions here as I don't want to guide your thoughts in any way.
I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Yours truly,
Cordy

Storming Prompt: July 2017

I think the heat of the summer influenced my choice for a prompt this month. I wanted to run away from the heat and hideaway in someplace cool. This picture seemed to fit the bill.

Rules

Where is this place? Are the birds important? Is it a Watchtower? A safe house? Who are the people involved who would value such a place?

Hope you enjoy and that you're all staying as cool as can be!

Yours truly,
Cordy

P.S. Sorry for the lateness of the post. I'm running a little behind in my blogging world. :)

Where is this place? Why are you/your character there? Do you look at it from an intellectual or architectural point of view or a mythical view based on 'legends'? What are you going to do now that you've found it? Why the two chairs?

Yours truly,
Cordy

I'm sorry if you can't listen to this without playing the trailer in your mind. But try your best! It's such a cool piece of music that I just couldn't resist using it as a prompt.

So, what can you do with it? What do you hear in it? It's almost like it's building to something. What is coming? Is it going to happen to a group or an individual? Or maybe it's someone preforming the piece...what does it mean to them?

Yours truly,
Cordy

Are they wishing? Is it a mistake made in anger? Where is the fountain and what is its history? Is anyone with them? How old are they? A child maybe?

P.S. This version of Blue Christmas always makes me giggle. I can't take it seriously. (In fact, any version of this song is just--funny for me.)

Storming Prompt: Oct 2016

Alright, in the rush that was creating this blog, I feel like I didn't do justice to my thoughts. And that, is an obnoxious feeling. So I'm here for round two, and hopefully I'll get around to redoing my introductory page as well. (Which I did!) Anyway, here goes a better explanation of what these prompts are meant to be.

When I was first considering writing seriously, I was intrigued by prompts. But in truth I would just read them through and move on. When I actually started to let my mind explore the thought for a minute I was actually taken off guard by what my mind could do with the prompt. Now, getting ideas from prompts is good writing exercise for me. I've even outlined some stories because of them. But that's not all. I love to see different opinions that branch off the same idea. So choosing these prompts each month and reading what entries come in will expand my own imagination. (And maybe even yours too.)

Now, I want to present a newish set of rules--

1. YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A WRITER TO PARTICIPATE!
2.View/Read/Listen to the prompt with a mind primed to explore the possibilities!
3. You don't have to answer all of the questions I pose. They are there merely to aid your mind in taking imaginative flight.
4. Share what ideas you gained in the comments. This could include a bit of dialogue, a general scene sketch, a plot problem, character names and place, or even the 'history' of a prompt. (But, if the idea you create happens to be so great, you might want to save it for a future date!)
5. Read and perhaps add to the other replies and answers submitted. (Recommended not required)

Well, after all that to do, I'll share the prompt now--

I'm not a huge Halloween girl, however, I did try and choose some kind of prompt that could go along with the slightly spooky feel that comes with October. (But then again, it can do something totally different as well!)

What's happened in this greenhouse? Is/was it a greenhouse? Is it known locally? Who previously owned it? Who owns it now? Where is it? Why is attention being drawn to it now?

Yours truly,
Cordy

Storming Prompts: Sept 2016

Alright then, let's start this blog off with a bang, eh? So, here is the first writing exercise I have prepared for you. The rules are simple, flexible, and open to interpretation. Here is how this is going to work. Each month, I'm going to try and post some kind of writing prompt, be it picture, text, quote, music, etc. it will be your job to brainstorm in the next ten minutes (adjust time as needed) on this prompt. Names, places, quirks, facts, problems, dialogue, etc. Whatever you come up with you will then add to the comments section. It will be open for that month. (And beyond because I'm not going to stop you from commenting. That would be silly.) So I'll make a little set of rules I'll attach to each post.

1. Read/view the prompt
2. Brainstorm (if possible), at least ten minutes to gain names, facts, places, and scenarios from the story
3. Add your thoughts to the comment section
4. Read the other comment entries

Sorry, there are no prizes, only a good brainstorm session to get you into the mindset of 'everything is a prompt'.

ALSO, YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A WRITER TO PARTICIPATE! All that is required is a little bit of faith, trust, and pixie dust, of imagination!

September Prompt:

Who's the couple? What about the friends? Where are they? What's the 'S' on the sweatshirt stand for? Dog's name? Why are they dancing in a kitchen? What kind of music could be playing?

Yours truly,
Cordy
